Feline
Pine Cat Litter
Many cat owners and experts alike have praised
the use of Feline Pine Cat Litter. It’s natural,
biodegradable and it gives a fresh scent as claimed by
many who uses it. Most importantly, feline pine is
economical. A big bag of 40 lbs of Feline Pine cat litter
cost only about $20.
Feline Pine Cat Litter is made from pine pellets
and unlike the clay and crystals cat litter, its’
biodegradable which means that you can flush it down the
toilet or recycled as mulch.
I’ve used it for my 6 cats and here is how I
feel about it:
Pros
Feline Pine comes in small pellets and it’s
therefore dust free. It’s much lighter than the
traditional clay type of litter. What I like is that you
only need to cover the litter box with a thin layer of
the feline pine and so one bag of it can last you a long
long time. It is also excellent in terms of odor control,
as I could hardly smell the litter box while using feline
pine. This is something that I greatly appreciate.
Imagine having 6 cats in my house, the stench would be
unbearable if the litter could not cover up the
smell!
Cons
Unlike the clay type of litter, the hard pellets
may make feline pine unattractive to some cats. Their
soft paws may hurt while they stand doing their business
in the litter box. One major complaint that I have about
feline pine cat litter is that when it breaks down into
sawdust, it becomes very dusty and tracking can be real
bad. Thanks to my 6 cats, my house practically has traces
of the feline pine powder all around my house. However,
using a mat beside the litter box helps minimize the
problem though.
Another concern is the effect of the sawdust
from the feline pine on the respiratory system of your
cats. Some cats may be sensitive to this and as a result
may develop some respiratory problems like sneezing,
running nose and in severe cases even asthma has been
reported from the use of feline pine litter.
By and large, this was my choice of the best cat
litter. It's cheap and effective.
